💡 Remember the strings:
- E-A-D-G-B-E (from thick to thin)
- Memory trick: "Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddie"
- The thickest string (6th) makes the lowest sound
- The thinnest string (1st) makes the highest sound
Guitar Basics
🎸 Parts of the Guitar
- Headstock: The top part where you tune the strings
- Neck: The long part you hold with your left hand
- Frets: The metal bars on the neck that divide the notes
- Body: The big hollow part that makes the sound louder
- Sound hole: The round hole in the body
- Strings: The 6 wires you pluck to make music!
✋ How to Hold Your Guitar
- Sit up straight with the guitar resting on your lap
- The guitar's body should rest on your right leg (if you're right-handed)
- Your left hand goes on the neck to press the strings
- Your right hand strums or picks near the sound hole
- Keep your shoulders relaxed!
👆 Reading Chord Diagrams
- Vertical lines = the 6 guitar strings
- Horizontal lines = the frets on the guitar neck
- Colored circles with numbers = where to put your fingers
- X = don't play this string (muted)
- O = play this string open (no finger on it)
- Numbers show which finger to use: 1=Index, 2=Middle, 3=Ring, 4=Pinky
🌟 Practise Tips
- Practise a little bit every day (even just 10 minutes!)
- Your fingertips might hurt at first - this is normal!
- Press the strings firmly, right behind the fret
- Start slow and focus on making clear sounds
- Have fun and don't give up! 🎉
